All fairs are offered at a base 12% of sales. Higher split negotiable based on school size & sales volume.
Itinerant Literate would love to help your school raise money through a custom book fair. We have several options available for fairs of all sizes and needs. As an independent bookseller, we offer some particular perks as a book fair partner.
In-School & Custom Catalog Fairs
We can create custom catalog lists for your book fair that will include books from over 100 publishers. From educators wish lists to genre and category-specific lists, submit your ideal fair catalog or event goals and our expert booksellers will create a list to reflect those requests and needs.
Looking for stories with characters more reflective of your students, or do you have tons of requests for robots/aliens/ horses/[insert your students favorite topics here]? We can get great titles in any of these categories that still work with your state or federal guidelines!
If your school doesn’t have time in the schedule for a full-blown book fair, we can work with you on a catalog-only fair. Students can fill out our custom catalog for their orders, and we will drop the books off for pickup at the school.
Would you like to have the bookmobile be part of your fair? So would we! The bookmobile is available for travel to schools who set up bookmobile-based fairs. Depending on space and demand, we can set up additional display space in designated areas within the school
We’d also be happy to host book nights at the store. Source the power of your community and have a portion of sales from a given night go toward your school’s library or specific classrooms.
For school administrators looking to purchase books to give away to teachers (or students), we can offer a starting discount of 30%. Books purchased for these orders MUST be for give away (classroom copies do not qualify).
Book Purchases (for giveaway)
Do you need classroom copies for an entire grade level? Or for an entire school? We can fulfill these orders for you. All classroom orders start at a discount of 26% and then follow the discount schedule below. We’ll send a quote for every order we receive, with a breakdown of discount and cost for each title.
In-Store Classroom Accounts
Set up an in-store account for your classroom, and you’ll have a way for parents to continually contribute to your classroom library.
Parents and other community members can add cash or credit to the account whenever they come into the store, and you’ll be able to shop based on what’s available. Stop by in store to learn how to get started
The second Saturday of every month is Teacher Appreciation Day. Teachers receive 15% off all purchases.
Students who bring a report card showing either a cumulative 3.5 grade point average OR a 25% improvement over the previous report card will get a $10 gift card.
Report Card Rewards & Incentives
Summer Reading Challenge
For every 500 minutes read, participating students will get a surprise prize, and for those who reach the 1500-minute goal for the whole summer will receive an additional prize from the bookstore!
Every publication season, wonderful children’s authors make themselves available for school visits.
Stores must lobby the publishers ahead of time for the events; interested schools may sign up to receive notification of touring authors and submit requests for author visits through Itinerant Literate.
Workshops & Special Events
Our booksellers can work with educators to craft extra-curricular workshops, volunteer opportunities, and specialized events with community leaders and your classroom to promote and educational goal.
From leading poetry, fiction, and journalism workshops to college prep and community organizing, our staff loves finding the perfect way to enrich your teaching goals!
In the fall of 2018, we will begin our student reading councils to review the many pre-publication review copies publishers send us. The goal of this council is to encourage independent reading and critical thinking in participating students.
Members of the reading council will get one review copy per month and be expected to read and write a review of the book. Every month, a bookseller will lead the council meetings in-store to discuss their books. Members will be able to keep one book per semester.
